I don’t do product placement, gear reviews or any of that kind of stuff. But I do care about companies who make their clothing and gear as low impact as possible. So in this post, I’m doffing my (low impact) cap to howies. Their new SS17 range is 100% PFC free (and PTFE free), which means they’ll be one of the first active brands to completely remove harmful chemicals from their active/outdoor clothing.

Fair play. Working in the environment field, I often feel frustrated I have to compromise what I believe in with the gear that’s available on the market. So it’s great there’s companies like howies out there who really push themselves to be as low impact as possible.
Why does this matter? Well, most of the stuff you can buy, especially outdoor gear, has a massive impact on the environment. From the energy it takes to produce, to the detergents, dyes and nasty chemicals/micro-particles added for performance. And it’s these micro particles that go down the drain and end up in the environment, and us – gross!
So now I’m saving up for my first 100% PFC free outdoor jacket. To see the range and find out more head to: www.howies.co.uk
