I’m tempting fate here, but May’s a spectacular month. Spring strutting its stuff, bank holiday weekends and loads of time outdoors.
But…I have mixed emotions this year. Why? Because May 2018 is the last full month of my 30s – agh! Dwelling on that’s gonna freak me out. So just as well I have plenty going on to distract me.
I’m going for a run…
By plenty going on, I mean running my first 100 mile ultra marathon in – holy crap – a week’s time. I’m quacking it, but setting out all the crazy thoughts flying around my head in my last post really helped.
Now, I’m looking forward to it. And whether I make it to the finish line or crash out early with a DNF, my next post will be a warts and all account.
Sadly, running such a daft distance means I won’t be able to repeat the challenge I did last year where I ran 10k every day in May. My cousin Paul came up with the idea. I thought it sounded pretty cool, challenging but achievable. And for the first (and possibly last) time in my life, I even came up with a hashtag: #run10kadayinmay.
It was fun and much cheaper than entering a big race. It also kickstarted a habit that’s stuck. One year on, I wake up early every day and go for a run. Amazing what you can get used to.
We need to talk about sustainability…
I’m a sucker for podcasts. Right now, I’m all over ones about sustainability. I’ve tried ‘Sustainababble’, ‘Sustainable Nation Podcast’ and ‘The Sustainability Puzzle’ and there’s a few more on my radar.
I have my reasons. And if all goes to plan, I hope to share more info in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, I’ve got a 100 mile ultra marathon to contend with, and one final month to enjoy as a thirty-something.
